Wade in the Water

We headed to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge with my side of the family over fall break.  Pop and JuJu rented a cabin for us in Pigeon Forge.  It was a nice cabin, each family had their own floor and it had beautiful views of the mountains.  It ended a little crazy in the cabin, but we will get to that in a minute.  I took my camera, but it was raining a lot and I didn't end up taking it out of the car.  I also didn't take pictures of the cabin, or really that many pictures at all!  Vacationing with 2 kids under the age of 3 is fun, but hard.  I didn't think about taking pictures too much until it was over, but here are few that I did take.

We left on Thursday morning while it was about to rain.  Nate took this pic with his phone.  It was the sky right out our front door.  The rain was a bit crazy this past weekend.

We arrived Thursday night and then woke up on Friday morning ready to head to Dollywood.  The weather forecast for the whole weekend put our trip to Dollywood up in the air, but when we woke up Friday, we felt like it would be the best day to chance it.  It ended up being a great day.  A little sprinkles here and there, but the cloud cover kept it cooler and it didn't rain until the end of the day there.

Monkey had a BLAST.  She absolutely LOVED every single ride she was able to go on.  She would have gone on a lot more if she had been tall enough to ride them.  She kept wanting to go faster, faster.  She would squeal with delight and ride with a huge smile on her face the whole time.  We spent most of our day there so that she could enjoy the rides.
This was the first one that she went on.  I thought she would not like being left, but she did great.
The bees went up and down and she loved it the higher it went.

The ducks were the same as the pigs, but she loved it just the same.
She really enjoyed this one with Daddy.  It was hard for me to see her face, but Nate said she smiled and squealed the whole time.
She got to ride the ferris wheel with Pop and JuJu and they said she loved every minute of that.  Mommy has a hard time with ferris wheels because of the height, so I'm glad Pop and JuJu wanted to take her.
We got to ride the mini roller coaster.  That was the first ride we got to ride together and she had so much fun.
After that we headed to a ride very much like Dumbo.  It went pretty high and she loved it again.  It actually went around faster than I was expecting!  She loved this so much that she went again with Daddy.

She also loved the roller coaster so much that she went on it again with Daddy.  Daddy tried to teach her to hold her hands up above her head!
This one did great in the park.  She happily rode in her stroller or on me the whole day.  And finally at the end of the day when we headed to watch a gospel concert to get out of the rain - she passed out cold.  Sweet girl.
On Friday night, Monkey enjoyed playing with her cousins and watching movies with them in their room.  Saturday morning we woke up to some rain and she got to play with her cousins some more.  The rain started to clear out late morning and we decided to go ride the Alpine Coaster that was right down the street.  It was SOOO much fun.  I didn't get any pictures of that, but you can google it.  It's a coaster in the side of the mountain.  Monkey was just tall enough to ride and her Daddy says she again LOVED it.  It went pretty fast and she kept asking for it to go faster.  My sweet girl seems so hesitant in so many things in life, it was so nice to see her adventuresome spirit come out on this trip!

So, on Saturday afternoon when we got back from the coaster, there was water standing in our basement bathroom.  We thought it was the potty, so we cleaned it up and didn't use it.  I went upstairs to take a shower above our bathroom and when I came back down, the floor was really covered in water.  When my dad and brother got home, they realized it was a stopped up pipe on the way to the septic tank.  It took about 6 hours to get the plumbing fixed - or so we thought.  It was cleaned up, the plumber was gone, we had cloroxed everything and were getting ready to go to bed.  The dishwasher and washing machine were running when we headed downstairs and when we got there, our floor was covered once again with water.  We decided that night to leave a day early.  By the next morning the water was really backing up and started to be pretty yucky.  It was an ordeal, but a memory was definitely made!

We packed up on Sunday morning and headed to downtown Gatlinburg in the rain.  Luckliy it didn't rain long.  We ate lunch first thing and by the time we were done, the rain was gone.  We headed down the strip one way and into the mall.  We stopped by a magic shop where the magician turned a bubble into a glass ball.  Monkey is still talking about that.  We headed back up the strip and then to the car with 2 very tired little girls and 2 very tired parents!
We stopped and got a chocolate milkshake before we got on the road which made for a happy little girl!  We had a fun trip.  Monkey really enjoyed being with her cousins, her aunt and uncle and her Pop and JuJu.  It was a great trip full of fun memories!  Thanks Pop and JuJu!
