Beach July 2017

We headed to the beach with my side of the family the last week of July and we had a blast.  It was quite the week of finding all different kinds of sea creatures.  Both off our beach and during the bay trip we took one day.  We ended up having some pretty beautiful weather and we spent 2 FULL days at the beach.  We got out there in the morning, ate lunch out there and didn't come back up until dinner time.  The girls were worn out, but they had a great time!

Something about this beach makes time slow down and we mainly just enjoy spending time outside and then our evenings end a little early because we are all exhausted!  We did stay up a couple of nights playing games and enjoying some Shark Week shows!

The first day out, the girls just got used to being out there and digging around in the sand.

The second day out there they enjoyed playing in the sand and boogie boarding.  ALL DAY.

This one is still so happy to be playing by herself.  She did a lot of that this week.

Watching a kite flying in the air.

Birdie caught a hammerhead shark right off our beach!

The family staying next door had 3 girls and they enjoyed playing with each other all week.

Birdie also caught a sting ray just off our beach!

All the girls dug a big hole together and surprisingly the tide didn't take it away for most of the week!
On day 3 one the girls next door discovered sand fleas and then my brother said they made good bait and the girls started digging!  They were so excited and kept finding a TON.  It was so amazing to watch Monkey and Lil Bit grab them up and put them in a bucket.  In fact, Monkey was not really scared to touch anything all week.  It was fun to watch them and their excitement.

Sand fleas are interesting little critters...

On Thursday, we headed over to the bay to do a little kayaking and some of them snorkeled and found all kinds of things!
Uncle Chad found HUGE conch shell...

...and a sea urchin...

...and a horseshoe crab...

...another sea urchin...

...and a puffer fish!!

We rented a kayak and took it out for awhile and the girls enjoyed it for the most part!

The girls all enjoyed finding an entire bucket full of hermit crabs that they really wanted to take home, but we returned them to the wild!
