Last night we went to hear Mat Kearney at the Ryman with our friends Chris and Kristen. It was actually an Owl City concert, but none of us really listen to them, so we just went to hear Mat. I really love this guys music, his voice, his lyrics, his beats - and he is even better live. The opening act was a band called Unwed Sailor - they played about 6 songs and we kept waiting for someone to sing - they NEVER did. They just played music and jammed on the stage - it was a little odd since we didn't know what to expect.

Then Mat came out and did not disappoint. He has a new album coming out on August 2 (can't wait!) and I was afraid it would just be album promotion with all new songs. But nope - he played oldies off his past two records and hit almost all of my favorite songs he sings. Plus he ended with his new single "Hey Mama" written about meeting his wife. Awesome beat, and just a fun song. If you don't listen to him, or have never heard of him - get thee to iTunes and listen to some of his stuff!

We left the concert early because we really didn't care to listen to Owl City and went to get ice cream. What can be more perfect on a summer night than live music and cold ice cream!
One side note - oh my Evie - you and I might have some fights over the clothing that you would like to try to wear out of our house. Modesty among teenage girls is no longer present - or at least it wasn't very present last night. There were young girls in very low cut, tight tank tops paired with very, very short, tight tube tops that passed as skirts. Where are their parents when these girls walk out of the house?? I understand what is in fashion right now, but sometimes you have to draw the line - leave a little to the imagination please!! Please fashion industry - change back to modest but cute fashion by the time my baby is a teenager! (It's what she will be wearing anyway! ;) )
