Rivers, Rivers and More Rivers - Part 3

SUNDAY

We had to be out of the cabin by the afternoon our last day but we still had the RUV’s until 5 – so we just packed up the cars and headed out to the trails.  We decided to bring Lucie this year, but we forgot about the last day.  We weren’t sure what we would do with her, but she ended up going 4-wheeling with us!  You read that right – we traumatized our dog and took her with us!  We tied her crate in the back of our vehicle so it wouldn’t move, then put pillows in and put her in.  She was a trooper – we were so proud of her.  She didn’t wine or bark, she was probably too scared to, because we ended up going on the hardest and bumpiest trail of the weekend that day!

We headed down to a set of trails that we had done a couple of years ago, and boy had they changed.  Parts of them were really easy, just roads to navigate, but the end of one of the trails got pretty bumpy.  After we finished that set, we still had some time left, so we headed down to find the trails that we thought we were on Saturday morning.  We ended up finding the right trails, and that is where it gets a little sticky!  This trail ran along a river, and the trail we were on was obviously part of a river bed.  The weather on Sunday was gorgeous, luckily, or this would have been one very bad trail.  There were parts that we had to come straight up on, and there were parts we had to come straight down.  We were the 3rd vehicle in line so Bird was able to get some pictures coming up some of the hills.  We headed back down the very precarious trail, going over rocks and some boulders and got to the bottom of the river.  There were some pretty big mud holes.  Bub and Bird made it through one with Goose, but barely – their back end was almost under the mud.  Next up was Dad, Mom and So-So – Dad was trying to get to the path that went around the mud hole and hit a rock that sent him sideways and he got stuck.  The side with Mom and So-So started sinking, so we got them out and then started to get dad out.  Luckily, after our first year, my dad keeps chains in the back of the RUV.  Nate and Bub hooked the RUV’s together while dad stood on one side trying to keep it from sinking.  After a lot of rocking and pulling, we were actually able to get him out and save ourselves!  I’m not going to lie to you, after the trip down there and then getting stuck, I really thought we were in trouble and got a little scared.  We knew we didn’t want to turn around and go up what we had just come down, and we didn’t know what was in front of us.  It of course, ended up being just fine and that was the worst part of the rest of the trail.  We made it back safely and didn’t do any damage to the RUV’s this year!  Lucie did awesome – she slept the entire way home last night, but she doesn’t seem too mad at us today!
Getting ready to leave on Sunday
Lucie ready to go - or is she???!!!  Oh how I wish she could talk and tell me if she enjoyed herself
And we are stuck!
The mud hole dad came out of and the rock that was his nemesis!
The next mud hole we had to get around.  Bird got some good pics of Nate coming through

Lucie made it - do you think she looks happy?!
Also – while we were at the cabin, there was a kitten that was hanging around.  She took up with the girls and the girls fell in love with her.  She was a very docile and friendly cat to be a wild cat – very kind, even to Lucie for the most part!  So after the weekend was over, Bub and Bird decided to bring the kitten home to be an outside cat to help with their mice they find in the garage.  Bird decided to name her Brimstone and we will probably call her Brim for short.  So they got a little souvenir!  Welcome to the family Brimstone – you will be a nice reminder of a great year of fun!

Looking forward to next year!
